How it works: kids pick a level and a set of 10 words, read each word out loud, and the card turns green when the microphone hears it. Each word gets 2 tries, then the game moves on — misses are never called "wrong." At the end, missed words come back for guided practice: Alex's voice says the word while the child sees it, and they repeat it.
Best on: Chrome on a laptop or Chromebook. Allow the microphone when asked. Works on iPads in Safari too, but speech recognition there can be less reliable.
Helper mode (🙋 on the home screen) turns off the microphone: the child reads the word aloud and a grown-up or buddy taps ✓ Got it! or Skip. Great for centers, tutoring, or devices without a mic.
Tips: quiet-ish room helps; short daily rounds beat long sessions; sets earn ⭐ for finishing and 🌟 for a perfect round.
